CURRENT WATER SUPPLY ISSUES...

The District is currently working to alleviate the limited water supply situation and asks for your cooperation and patience. At this time, only one pump is available to pump finished water from the storage reservoir into the distribution system and to the reservoir on the hilltop north of the Village. Intake piping from the reservoir to the pump station is old, as is the entire water system, and one of the intake pipes broke some time back which limited pump operation. Yesterday, another pipe broke, further limiting the pumping operation. Inland Potable Services was on site Monday to repair the intake pipes and experienced a setback due to the condition of the piping and the available repair methods. Inland Potable remains on site Tuesday to repair the piping.

Inland Potable Services was contracted to make the repairs; they are a firm with the resources, experience, and knowledge required to enter a finished water tank and make the repairs. Entering a finished water tank requires that floatation and repair equipment be disinfected; this entry also requires personnel to be suited up and disinfected. The District does not have the resources to allow entry into the water tank.

The entire water system does need attention which was the impetus to apply for grant funding in May of this year. Recall the notice for the public meeting in April to discuss and learn details of the Preliminary Engineering Report which was prepared as the required initial step of applying for grant funding. Assuming that the District is successful with acquiring grant (and loan) funding, essential facets of the water system, including the pump station, will be improved.

Thank you.
